Masonry Instructor

The Arkansas Construction Education Foundation seeks a masonry professional to provide instruction for a fast-paced course. This grant-funded position through the Rock City Re-entry program is short-term but if successful, could develop into a regularly offered course at our Little Rock facility. This position is perfect for someone retired or semi-retired and is interested in passing on their knowledge and skill to others.

Course Description:
Four-week course covering the fundamentals of the construction trade and fundamentals of block and brick laying utilizing NCCER course curriculum. Each week consists of 30 hours of instruction or lab activities resulting certification for the student population. Target start date is March 5, 2018.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver classroom course instruction
  • Conduct skills training through lab activities.
  • Mentor students
  • Interact with administrative managers
  • Work with case managers in support of participants
  • Communicate with participants and clients in a consistent manner
  • Comfortable with technology
  • Exhibit patience and empathy for participants

Qualifications:

  • 10 years brick and block mason experience
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Participate in NCCER’s Instructor Certification Training Program
  • Implementation of safety protocols
  • Proper use of tools of the trade

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous craft training experience
  • Safety training experience
  • Experience with multicultural or underserved populations
  • OSHA certification: 30-hour construction industry, confined space and/or fall protection

Craft Instructor

General Construction

The Arkansas Construction Education Foundation (ACEF) seeks a general construction skilled crafts instructor interested in passing their knowledge and skills to the next generation of skilled trade workers through the YouthBuild program administered by the Little Rock Workforce Development Board. Instructor and students meet four days a week of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours a day. Community-based projects typically are 6 – 8 hours and occur once a month.

  • Mentor students
  • Interact with administrative managers
  • Work with case managers in support of participants
  • Communicate with participants and clients in a consistent manner
  • Comfortable with technology
  • Exhibit patience and empathy for participants

Qualifications

  • 10 years general or specialized construction industry experience
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Participate in NCCER’s Instructor Certification Training Program
  • Implement proper safety procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous craft training experience
  • Safety training experience
  • Specialized craft experience (i.e. electrician, plumbing, etc)
  • Experience with multicultural and underserved populations
  • OSHA certification: 30-hour construction industry, confined space and/or fall protection
